Halloween Happenings

Hi!  Did you have a great weekend or what?  Ours was awesome!  Brianna really had a blast the entire weekend, especially on Halloween.  :)  She trooped along joyously in spite of the runny nose and cough she's had for the past 4 days.  She's not running a fever, thank God, but still keeping a careful eye on her for that.  We DO NOT want pneumonia to reappear!

This is going to be a picture heavy post--I'm rolling a couple of days worth into this one post.  Haha!  Most posts will be like this from here on out.  If Jeff can catch a break and get to a computer, he enjoys reading and seeing pictures of what's going on here at home. :) 

First off, I'd like to show you what Brianna gave her little classmates for Halloween on Friday.  It was really precious.  I showed up at her school early to pick her up and brought these.  She got to pass out each little bag to her friends.  She totally loved it!!     

 

Pumpkin Carvin' 101:

On Thursday evening I seriously thought Brianna would ditch me for some cartoons and leave me to carve pumpkins all by my lonesome.  In previous years, she's wanted nothing to do with the pumpkin goo and guts. That little munchkin shocked her mama!   She dove right in there this year...had it up to her elbows and everything! lol  We had so much fun together!!!

P*I*N*K Craziness

Okay, Jeff is going to kill me....I just really L*O*V*E pink and well, Brianna begged to change her hair....

 

No worries!!  It was only temporary!  She's having "Red Ribbon Week" at school and each day is a new theme.  This was for "Crazy Hair Day".  I thrive off of this kind of stuff!!! lol We'll always participate!!  Even if it's crazy! :)  

 LOVE this one...... the back of her little neck...so sweet and girly....

Oh yes, and another day was "Mismatch Day".  You have no idea how hard it was for my brain to try and mismatch her clothes.  LOL  This is the best I could come up with.  She can mismatch...but still has to look cute, ya know? 

 

 

 

 
  

The only day we're not participating in is "Camo Day".  I want her to wear her little Halloween outfit for that day.  Friday is "pajama day"!!!  Yippee!  LOL  I'm crazy, I tell ya.

Sure hope your week is going good.  Are you ready for Halloween?  I'm almost there.  Can't wait...too much fun going on!!

Yes, I've been a little MIA when it comes to updating this blog.  Since my hubby's been gone it's been non-stop "things to do"...and just plain ole living.  I've had to make several phone calls to take care of things.   For instance, we have a sprinkler system and I had to call around and find someone to come and winterize it for me.  I have no idea how to do that!  Finding a reputable lawn maintenance service is another.  I'll pick weeds and plant flowers in my little garden--but I don't mow and have never picked up a weed eater. LOL   Why is this a big deal for me?   Why does Jeff usually take care of all important phone call "matters"?  I HATE talking on the phone---PERIOD!  Too bad I can't just text..LOL  Jeff, if you get the chance to read this...I just want you to know how much I love and appreciate you.  Stay safe baby...kiss, kiss. 

I want to share a little something with you that's part of a project I'm working on for Brianna's class.....

 

We did a little 5 minute photo shoot yesterday to get some pictures-- specifically of her making her best "scary" faces. LOL  I showed a couple to my mom afterward and she goes, "She looks POSSESSED!!!".  Ummm...yah, that's the point.  LOL

The above picture is as close to being spooky as she'll probably ever get.  She FINALLY decided, after going back and forth between like 4 different costumes, what she wants to be for Halloween this year:

During that 5 minute "Spooky-Shoot", I did manage to snap some super sweet pictures of her....wow, she's looking so grown up.  She'll be 5 in November..cannot believe it.

Time

Something I don't have enough of these days...

It's been a while since my last post.  It's not that I don't want to post--just been preoccupied with other things...good things, I might add.  By the time 7:00 in the evening rolls around--I just want to go to bed! Haha!

So, this will probably end up being pretty long--consider yourself forewarned! :)

Let's see.  Monday afternoon, I attempted to shoot this little guys' 6 month pictures.  FIRST time shooting a baby (besides my daughter, of course).  Wow...you can't control babies! LOL  It was definitely a challenge and there were some other little things I could have planned better, but all in all, I got some decent shots that I'm happy with (and hope his momma is too). 

Meet  Hayden Lake, aka "Puddles"

The funny thing about this shoot was---it was out in the country.  I kind of live in the country (still trying to get used to it)--but wow, this was REAL country!!!  FYI--I'm not much of an outdoorsy type of gal either.   :)  I'm talkin' 4 mile gravel road just to reach the entrance gate and the whole shebang!  It was located on family property--approximately 15 acres I believe. At one point, I was knee deep in wild prairie grass.  His mom says, "Watch out for snakes--BUT---don't worry--you'll be okay."  What?!!?  Ummm, yah....I also came home that evening and literally had to have Jeff check me for ticks.  LOL

I'm still processing and working on the photos--but the best ones I got were of him and his momma.  She did NOT plan on being in them...but I insisted.  I love the casual "in the moment" feel of them.

Tuesday evening was Brianna's first Open House.  I'm so glad that Jeff was here and able to go.  I failed to get pictures!  Phooey! :(  She drug us around showing off her classroom and all the little activities she does on a daily basis. Too fun!  I can still remember my open houses as a kid--it's a big deal! :)

Last night, we had the whole family out for dinner.  So, yah, I was in the kitchen cookin' and bakin' for a couple of hours yesterday.  It was kind of a "Going Away" dinner for Jeff.  Ya know, before your man deploys, you always try to make some of their favorite dishes and desserts because you know they're going to be eating some nasty a** food for a year that doesn't stick with them.  :(

As I'm typing this...I can see, from my window, Jeff outside on a ladder.  I better go out there and hold it before he breaks his neck!!

I just adore the smells, the colors, the overall warmth that this season brings...

First Day Jitters...

Not for her, of course....

 

But for me!  Today my little one started her first day of Pre-K and  boy was she proud and excited!  From the pictures, you can probably tell she was all ready to flap her wings and strut her stuff.  Haha!

One Happy Girl...

Yeah, that's me.  :) I had a great weekend!  Party + Photo Shoot=Perfectly Awesome in my book.  My mom's 64th birthday party was so fun and we had a full house!  You should have seen Jeff running his tail ragged grilling for all the people that came! Haha!  We love hosting things though--so it's all good.  :)  And....sitting down to some margaritas and daiquiris isn't so bad either...wink!

Also this weekend.....I got to do what I LOVE to do.  Shoot pictures!!  Maria, my brother's girlfriend, asked if I'd shoot some pictures of the two of them together and then some of her individually.  I jumped on that!  My brother is not thrilled with the whole "taking pictures" thing....but he's still cute lil David.  Also...it was nearing dusk, and the stupid mosquitoes were trying to eat us alive!  So, he was a pretty good sport about the whole thing.  :)  Here's some samples:
